WHAT IS SCRIP?

SCRIP is a term meaning "substitute money". When the SCRIP Committee purchase SCRIP, they're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. SCRIP is issued by retailers, both nationally and locally, where many of you already shop. These merchants want to support non profit organizations, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for your organization.

SCRIP is "shopping cart fundraising”.

The reason for the effectiveness of Scrip is simple: families produce revenue by making purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with SCRIP. An organization of 150 families easily spends between one and two million dollars per year on food, clothing and other essentials. If these families use SCRIP for these purchases, they can raise as much as $40,000 to $80,000 per year for their organization --without spending an additional penny!!!

We currently stock a wide variety of vendors; and special orders are made weekly. A complete listing is available at the Shopper’s Club desk, available online at www.glscrip.com or feel free to ask for a complete listing! Please note, SCRIP orders cannot be placed on-line directly with glscrip. However, you can place on-line orders with the St. Patrick Scrip desk. See the "PLACE AN ORDER" section below.

PLACE AN ORDER ON-LINE

To place a Scrip order on-line, click on the "Place An Order" link below. If you wish to pay by credit card, you must first register the card number and expiration date with the Scrip desk. This eliminates the need to transmit the credit card number over the Internet and is for your protection.

Scrip ordering is a three step process, each with its own page. These are "Purchaser Information, "Add Scrip Items" and "Order Review."

Purchaser Information
The "Purchaser Information" page is used to enter the buyer's name, contact information and payment option. Fill in the requested information and click "Next."

Add Scrip Items
The "Add Scrip Items" page is where you can add, change and remove items from your Scrip order. Use the top portion of the page to add an item. Enter the retailer's name, the desired Scrip denomination and the desired quantity and click the "Add" button. This will add the item to your shopping cart. To change the quantity of an item in your shopping cart, overtype the quantity with the desired amount and click the "Refresh Total" button. To remove an item from your shopping cart, change the quantity to 0 (zero) and click the "Refresh Total" button. When you are satisfied with your shopping cart contents, click the "Next" button.

Order Review
The "Order Review" page displays a copy of your order. After reviewing your order you can either change the order, submit the order or cancel the order. When you submit the order, a copy of the order will be sent to the e-mail address you provided on the "Purchaser Information" page.

SCRIP FAQ

Below is a listing of the most frequently asked questions regarding the SCRIP program:

1. How do I earn tuition credit for SCRIP purchases?

Tuition credits begin to accrue after a family has satisfied the initial H S A $100 requirement. Afterwards, the profit is split 50/50 between purchasers and the H S A. Each time a certificate is purchased, it is entered into the computer. Certificates earning a higher percentage will naturally yield a higher credit.

2. Can anyone purchase SCRIP?

Yes! Family and friends can purchase SCRIP. All that is needed is the family name for which the credit is to be applied!

3. How are credit card transactions handled?

We would like to make purchasing SCRIP as easy and convenient for everyone as possible. To make a credit card purchase, simply fill out a paper order form including your credit card number and expiration date. Your order will then be filled. A copy of your order form along with the Customer Copy of the receipt will be returned to you when the credit card transaction is processed. Once your credit card number and expiration date are on file with the Scrip desk (either by a paper order or be registering it directly with them) you can then use the on-line order form also.

4. Are there any fees incurred when using the credit card machine?

This depends on the earning percent of the SCRIP certificates/cards purchased. The SCRIP program pays a fee to the credit card authorization service. The issue is "How do we continue to pay tuition credits on credit card transactions when the SCRIP program is charged for a percentage of the total sale?" The SCRIP program would be losing money on any certificate earning a percentage of 5% or less. Therefore a 3% surcharge will be assessed on certificates earning 5% or lower when purchased with a credit card. No surcharge will be assessed on cash/check transactions.

5. Can I donate my “credits”?

If a family opts to not receive a tuition credit, they may certainly donate their credits. Credits may be donated to another family in the school, the Angel Fund, Choir, CCD/Religious Education, General Fund, or directly back to St. Patrick School. Families donating their credit may apply this amount toward Annual Donations on their Income Tax.

6. I prepay my tuition. What happens to my credits?

Credits earned may either be applied to the following year’s tuition or donated.
